The Previous Website

A website built for an earlier era of Indian football.

The federation’s previous website served its purpose for years, but it was built for desktop screens and for a smaller game. Content sat in narrow fixed-width columns, navigation labels competed with one another, and fixtures, results and federation notices shared the same visual weight as everything around them.

Previous website

The All India Football Federation website as archived in 2016: a narrow fixed-width layout with dense text columns and small navigation labels
Fixed-width layout, uniform emphasis, desktop only

Redesigned website

The redesigned All India Football Federation homepage: a full-width layout with a featured story, a match centre strip and clear primary navigation
Full-width layout, clear hierarchy, responsive
  • Visual hierarchy

A featured story, a match strip and news now sit at different weights instead of competing as equals.

  • Navigation clarity

Seven top-level areas with structured sub-menus replaced a flat row of similarly weighted links.

  • Content organisation

Teams, competitions, development and governance became defined destinations rather than scattered pages.

  • Responsive design

The site was rebuilt to work from a 360 px phone up to a large desktop display.

The Challenge

Indian football had evolved. Its digital platform needed to evolve with it.

The federation’s website had to carry a large and constantly changing ecosystem—national teams, competitions, fixtures, results, news, development programmes, governance information and official documents—without any one of them burying the rest.

  1. Too much information

Important content competed for attention across a dense institutional website.

  2. Too many audiences

Fans, players, coaches, referees, clubs, academies and administrators entered the platform with very different goals.

  3. Fragmented journeys

News, competitions, development programmes and official federation information did not feel like parts of one connected experience.

The New Structure

We redesigned the structure before redesigning the screens.

The foundation of the project was a new information architecture that could organise the federation’s entire digital ecosystem while making important football content easier to find.

  • Clear information architecture

Organised the platform around meaningful journeys: National Teams, Competitions, Development, Governance, Documents, News and Fan Zone.

  • Football at the centre

Brought fixtures, results, match information, standings and competition updates into the core of the experience.

  • Built for different audiences

Created clearer pathways for supporters, players, coaches, referees, academies, clubs, associations and administrators.

The information architecture the redesign was built on—eight connected areas, each a defined destination in the live site’s navigation.

The Final Website

One platform. Multiple football journeys.

The redesigned website works as a news destination, a competition platform, an institutional resource and a gateway into Indian football—held together by one consistent system.

The Responsive Experience

Designed for desktop and mobile.

Most of Indian football reaches the federation on a phone. The same content system had to reorganise itself from a wide desktop grid into a single readable column, with navigation that opens as a full-screen structure rather than a compressed menu bar.

  • A competition page on the redesigned AIFF website viewed on a phone, with the title and description stacked in a single column

The full-screen mobile navigation carries the same seven areas as the desktop menu, so the structure a visitor learns on one device is the structure they meet on the other.

The Outcome

One federation. Multiple competitions. One connected digital platform.

The redesign transformed AIFF’s website from a dated institutional platform into a modern, structured and responsive digital home for Indian football.
